Growing up I had always been active. My parents made it a point to have the family spend time together bike-riding, playing sports, or just exploring outdoors. I played sports throughout high school and college, but what really piqued my interest in general health and well being were my studies with cancer biology and molecular biology. Seeing the direct mechanisms of how the food we put into our bodies can either help to fight cancer or help to create it was the eye opener for me, pushing me to pursue better health. It was around this time that I had been looking for a new way to be active, and that’s when I found CrossFit. My very first workout was humbling, to say the least. I immediately fell in love with the sport, with the intensity, with the friendly competition, and most importantly, with the focus being on not what your body can look like, but on what it can do. I had found something that was more than just working out. I saw it as a lifestyle, as something that was intended to not only create better athletes, but to create better people. Doing CrossFit for a few years solidified my love for the sport and community. I wanted to pursue my L-1 to contribute any guidance I could for the people who walk into the box every week with the purpose being to walk out better than they came in. Since then, I’ve never stopped learning, and I’m excited to continue growing and passing on my knowledge to our members.
